door handles
As far as I can remember, the early ones were quite thin and ended almost in a point. This was felt to be a risk because the handles point forward so the MK2 ones were thicker, had more of a return on the end and should have the studs on the doors to bridge the gap and close the previous open end. The door studs look exactly like metal football studs.

Burwood door handles
I have just purchased a set of new Burwood door handles and am having difficulty with fitting. The fixing holes in the handles don't allow for a screw driver to line up with self tapping screws. Whats the secret - what am I missing ???

Burrwood door handles
Thanks Taffy
I have the right handles - they are going on a 95 Rover Cooper. The screws just run on a different angle to the screw driver access in the handles. I think I need to take the door cards off and replace the screws with bolts and nuts to get them on ?

Minis locks too vulnerable! Gonna shave the handles on boot + doors...
Hey mates..
My mini has been cracked open by thieves 3 times in a short while now... the locks are just too damn easy to open! And the alarm can be taken out by cracking the boot and disconnecting the battery (as they did last time).
So I'm thinking of shaving the doors and boot so there are no handles at all, and installing solenoid operated locks... I've seen cars that have had this done, but I have no idea who/which manufacturers sell these type of products..
So If anyone has done such mods to a car or knows where I can get the products, help me out!

Mmm, not sure if u can get a mechinism to open the door once its unlocked.
U might wanna try getting a remote central locking kit, and keeping ur handles (and the lil button for opening) but cemical metal the key hole or disengaging the lock form inside.

not exactly, secondary keys in the b posts, and extra ones in the boot lid

Hey mates...
Hehee padlocks! :-D
I just found out I cant even shave the handles legally here... so I'm thinking of only doing it to the boot... that way the bastards cannot at least shut down the alarm, if they cannot get into the boot. I'm thinking some solenoid operated thing or a simple cable hidden somewhere in the "cockpit"... I'll let ya know If I come up with something that actually works..:-D

Should be an easy enough mod on the boot. Most hatchbacks have a handle release for the boot, scrap yards will have something you could use.
Thinking of doing the same to my boot as well.

Door Problem
You dont say what Mk your car is but it sounds like either the cable or rod from the handle to the door lock has come off or broken. just remove the door pocket, the window handle (if applicable) and door card and you should see the problem easily.

Re:
Are you sure their suitable for your type of door fitting? I know in the UK the door handles type and positioning changed during the 1970's/1980's.

Door Lock problem
I have a newly aquired 96 Rover Mini. One of many issues is that the drivers door does not lock. I removed the door card, handles and the door lock. Before removing the lock mechanism I noticed that there was a disconnection between a slotted lever located behind the door handle and a cranked lever coming out of the door lock mechanism.
I noted that there was a two pronged spring clip hanging from the slotted lever coming from the back of the door handle. It makes sense that the cranked lever and the slotted lever should connect with the spring clip holding it together....But HOW?

yep
Yeah the interior looks good but rough. I want to chrome the door handles, change the lock barrels, insert center console and fix up the dash.

Burr Walnut door cappings problem
Could anyone tell me if the alloy door handles, winders etc. fit ok on a car with wood door cappings fitted? As i had to put my door opener handles on upside down after fitting the cappings, too close to cappings, would have marked the wood when opening. Have the standard Mpi door furniture fitted but want to fit the alloy set. Thanks, Fergal.

Almost full interiior for a 1986 Piccadilly Mini
I have everything from the dash board to the door cards. Full seats and all handles but one. I dont really like the brown with stripes so if youd like to restore your car. let me know and I need to know very soon. Ill let the whole thing go for cheap £s and I do mean cheap. The main color of my car is Cashmere Gold.

chrome pull handle
Try moss-europe.co.uk. They do a whole set (not horrible holey ones) but you could try asking if theyll just sell you the grab handle. It says only up to 1982 though so you might have to do some drilling and change the door cards to cover any extra holes.

door poppers
Do you mean kickers? The spring loaded rams that kick the doors open on de-handled doors? If so, just look at modifying specialists for ones for a small Japanese car, Toyota Starlet or similar. The doors on a mini are light, but quite long by comparison.
